Ashford Ride Out & Event Reviews

Ashford RAT Bonfire Party 5th November
What can I say about the 5th of November ?

Pat and Nigel laid on a real 5* bonfire party,
not only did we have some rather splendid fireworks - all lit by the intrepid Ivor - but we also had a great fire with a really cool guy (looking worryingly like Nige actually. . . . .), and to top it all there was a fine spread of home made burgers (Nige) and local sausages accompanied by the seasonal jacket spud and beens etc followed by a simply fantastic home made apple crumble (Pat) with custard/cream - when you consider that including wives/husbands and children there were approximately 40 RAT's in attendance (would this be considered an infestation. . . .) I feel we all owe Nigel and Pat a really big thank you -

THANK - YOU

yes, at least that big !!
See all the photos on our facebook page and in our Photobucket.

Christmas Party and Auction of Wishes

An auction of wishes was held as part of the annual Laguna Ashford RAT Pack Christmas bash, where RAT's offered various favours and tasks in exchange for money for the Kent Air Ambulance.
There were many things offered from having your gardening done by RAT member Colin Selling to having a go shaving the head and waxing the chest of Mungo the Laguna Technician.

The one that really stood out though was Paul Sciberras (now known simply as 'Shiverarse'), for his naked ride around Ashford town centre on Christmas day.
Paul wore only the absolute bare essentials as he rode through the town on Christmas day getting lots of attention from bemused locals and also making the front page of the local paper.
Fellow RAT's Al Proctor and Del Catchpole decided to join Paul as he embarked on the freezing cold trip that raised an extra £100 on the day, bringing the total raised by the auction to a respectable £800.

The Kent Air Ambulance were presented with the money at the January RAT meeting by the Ashford RAT pack Co-ordinator Dee Timmis, Who is already planning more fundraising events. We would like to thank everyone who donated to the Kent Air Ambulance which continues to provide a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) and Air Ambulance Service for sick and injured people in the South East and surrounding areas. It costs £1.7 million each year to keep the life saving helicopter in the sky 365 days of the year and every penny comes from individuals, groups, businesses, companies and clubs from all over Kent. The Air Ambulance has flown over 13,600 missions and continues to be available to every person living, working and travelling in the south east, should they ever need it.
